Visual Studio 2015 update 2 setup fails with "missing or damaged package kb3022398"

  Hi,

  I wanted to install Visual Studio Professional 2015 Update 2 from my MSDN abo (web installer) and got the following error "A Setup package is either missing or damaged -> Please provide a Location to search for the package ...kb3022398.msp"

  The computer is a complete fresh Server 2012R2 with all updates and VS2013 Pro Update5 installed.

  I tried it on a second Computer with same configuration, also on a Win10 machine and on a new machine without VS2013 installed. I also tried VS2015 Enterprise and always get the same error. Another developer in my team has the same problem now for the last two days.

  A few weeks ago we installed VS2013 and VS2015 on serveral developer computers (all MSDN) without any problem.

  Can anybody help with this?

  Try this if you have Windows Defender.

  If you have Windows Defender on as antivirus turn it off from Local Group Policy.

  1. open gpedit.msc

  2. navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender

  3. Turn off Windows Defender = Enabled
