人纵有万般能耐，终也敌不过天命。

I find that I gradually become a fatalist, because I feel that I have little control over my life.

Many times I feel that no matter what I do, there is little change in the consequence.

I was told that the best thing to combat fear, despair and fatalism was knowledge, however, it seems what I have learned from books are totally useless.

Can I change my fate?

Just do the best you can, no one can do more than that.
