Abstract   It's very convenient to annotate some script in DB Query Analyzer. Two ways are provided for you to annotate some script. Furthermore, you can execute selected SQL statement only.

1   Brief introduction of DB Query Analzyer

DB Query Analyzer is presented by Master Genfeng, Ma from Chinese Mainland. It has English version named ‘DB Query Analyzer’ and Simplified Chinese version named  .

DB Query Analyzer is one of the few excellent Client Tools in the world for its’powerful function, friendly interface, easy operation and applicability to every production of RDBMS.

It lets you query ODBC data sources, author SQL scripts and queries, return query results to a grid or free-form text or a file, retrieve ODBC driver information, execute multiple SQL scripts or stored procedures simultaneously, and more.

Achievement of DB Query Analyzer

In the New products & Tools reviews of programmer second issue of 2007, DB Query Analyzer had been strongly recommended.

Now the Simplified Chinese version of DB Query Analyzer is the top 50 database application software in the famous software website http://xiazai.zol.com.cn/download_order/sub_550.html. In most case it lies the top 20 and it has been download more than 95,000 times.

He thinks it will be the better way that DB Query Analyzer is assembled in the develop tools according to such software company so that more and more database application software developer will benefit from its powerful function, friendly interface, easy operation and applicability to every production of RDBMS.

2   Preface

It's very convenient to annotate some script in DB Query Analyzer. Two ways are provided for you to annotate some script. Furthermore, you can execute selected SQL statement only.

I will show you how to annotate some script and how to execute SQL statement only in DB Query Analyzer 5.04.

OS :  Windows 2000 server

Database system : DB2

Client tool : DB Query Analyzer 5.04.

3  Connect to ODBC DSN based on DB2 

Run DB Query Analyzer 5.04 first, then click ‘File’ menu to choose ‘Connect’ to open the logging window. Select ODBC Data Source ‘unitoll2’,input user name and password then connect to the database.

This is shown in Figure 1.

4   Execute the selected SQL statement only

After logged in DB2,input the SQL statement and select some to execute it. Then you can get theresult.

This is shown in Figure 2.

5   First way to annotate some script

If you input two character ‘-‘ in the front of a row in ‘SQL edit’ area in DB Query Analyzer. This row is annotated. It can’t be executed. In figure 3, ifyou press ‘F5’ or click menu item ‘Query’à’Run’ to execute SQL statement, only the second row is executed.

This is shown in Figure 3.

6   Another way to annotate some script

In DB Query Analyzer, SQL statement between ‘/*’ and ‘*/’ can’t be executed also.

So it supply you witha very convenient way to annotate many rows. In figure 4,only the first row is executed.
