C tokens are of six types, They are,

  • keyword
  • identifier
  • constant
  • string-literal
  • punctuator

preprocessing-token:

  • head-name
  • identifer
  • pp-number
  • character-constant
  • string-literal
  • punctuator
  • each non-white-space character that cannot be one of the above
